Along with the steady decline in personal and public morals that has plagued
Western culture for several centuries, there has been a deformation of vocabulary.
For example, leftists are called "liberals" in American English, in spite of the fact
that there is nothing progressive or generous about their socialism. Religious
compromise and covenant-breaking are lauded by ignorant fundamentalists as
"religious freedom", a "Baptist principle" but not a Biblical one. Infanticide is
mislabeled as "pro-choice", and the sins that provoked God to fry Sodom and
Gomorrah have been renamed as "gay", a simple old word for happy.
In just two generations, sodomy has taken four huge strides: from a criminal
offense to a mental maladjustment, then to a sit-com eccentricity and finally to a
"lifestyle" that must be tolerated. The psychobabblers have replaced
homosexuality with "homophobia" as a "mental illness", dismissing all opposition to
this perversion as proof that the objector is imbalanced and hateful. "Same-sex
marriage", which is a term as meaningful as "cold fire" or "dry water", is the new
legal fad of Western governments, both churches and states.
However, if we are willing to assume that God is just, sane and kind, then we may
be taken aback by what He actually has to say on this subject. God has spoken in
the words of the Bible; His voice is not to be sought in the fickle rants of
screaming "progressives" who deify their own lusts.
So, what do the Scriptures actually say?
1. "Homosexuality" is an obviously UNNATURAL sin.
Even if Darwinism were true, we would be driven to conclude that homosexual
activity is abnormal, failing to fulfill the obvious biological purpose of sexual
reproduction. By definition, sodomites are failing to pass on their genes to the
next generation. They are, if Darwin is right, the "unfit" who will die out if they
don't recruit. Absurdly, however, many irrational people today insist that this
activity must be "genetic". Not only is no "gay gene" ever identified, but the
sodomites would be open to medical treatment if it did exist - a prospect that they
might not welcome. The claim for in-born homosexuality is ultimately absurd,
because, again, the gay gene would be rather steady removed from the gene pool
by natural selection, which surely favours individuals who produce offspring!
But Darwin is not true. We are not mere naked primates, but special creations of
God. And He made both human genders to be like Him, commanding them to be
fruitful and multiply their offspring. (Genesis 1:22,27) God made Eve from a piece
of Adam, so they were co-ordinate rather than identical - like a two-piece zig saw
puzzle. Sexual intercourse is a reunion. (Genesis 2:20-25) Even an empiricist
observer would have to conclude that the male and female bodies are made for
each other; and that the anus is designed for waste removal.
In the Old Testament Mosaic Law, God condemned homosexuality as a
perversion as unnatural as murdering one's child for a false god or having sex with
an animal. And thou shalt not let any of thy seed pass through the fire to
Molech, neither shalt thou profane the name of thy God: I am the LORD. Thou
shalt not lie with mankind, as with womankind: it is abomination. Neither shalt
thou lie with any beast to defile thyself therewith: neither shall any woman stand
before a beast to lie down thereto: it is confusion. Leviticus 18:21-23
In the New Testament, the Apostle Paul tells us that both sodomy and
"lesbianism" are the punishment that God visits on ungrateful people who worship
pleasure and reject His law.
Because that, when they knew God, they glorified him not as God, neither were
thankful; but became vain in their imaginations, and their foolish heart was
darkened. Professing themselves to be wise, they became fools, And changed the
glory of the uncorruptible God into an image made like to corruptible man, and to
birds, and fourfooted beasts, and creeping things. Wherefore God also gave them
up to uncleanness through the lusts of their own hearts, to dishonour their own
bodies between themselves: Who changed the truth of God into a lie, and
worshipped and served the creature more than the Creator, who is blessed for
ever. Amen.
For this cause God gave them up unto vile affections: for even their women did
change the natural use into that which is against nature: And likewise also the
men, leaving the natural use of the woman, burned in their lust one toward
another; men with men working that which is unseemly, and receiving in
themselves that recompence of their error which was meet. And even as they did
not like to retain God in their knowledge, God gave them over to a reprobate mind,
to do those things which are not convenient; Romans 1:22-28
2. Sodomy is a crime to be punished by civil authorities.
The civil sanction for "homosexual" activity, according to God, is the death
penalty. If a man also lie with mankind, as he lieth with a woman, both of them
have committed an abomination: they shall surely be put to death; their blood shall
be upon them. Leviticus 20:13 This is not simply an "Old Testament" Israelite
matter, for Paul tells the Romans that homosexuality is a stubborn crime deserving
death. Who knowing the judgment of God, that they which commit such things
are worthy of death, not only do the same, but have pleasure in them that do
them. Romans 1:32
3. Jesus has spoken against sodomites.
More than one bold pervert has insisted to me that "Jesus never condemned
homosexuality". Besides the obvious and very basic fact that Jesus is the Creator
God who designed gender and gave Moses the law, there is Matthew 11:20-24:
But I say unto you, It shall be more tolerable for Tyre and Sidon at the day of
judgment, than for you. And thou, Capernaum, which art exalted unto heaven,
shalt be brought down to hell: for if the mighty works, which have been done in
thee, had been done in Sodom, it would have remained until this day. But I say
unto you, That it shall be more tolerable for the land of Sodom in the day of
judgment, than for thee. Jesus, as God the Omnipotent, even knows how history
would have turned out different had one event been changed. If He had gone to
ancient Sodom, they would have repented of their perversion and not been
destroyed by God. Jesus is aware that they didn't repent and that they were
destroyed - and He says nothing against God's wisdom or justice in punishing
them.
4. Heterosexual fornication, adultery, "birth control", abortion and divorce are
analogs to sodomy.
Any practice that reduces sex to a matter of mere physical pleasure, is analogous
to sodomy. Since the "sexual revolution", we have become a culture of irrational
gluttons, casting of self-control in favor of self-satisfaction. One of the reasons
Jesus came was to strengthen the family by making fathers love children and
children love fathers. (Luke 1:17)
5. Sexual sin is to be repented of by those who believe the Gospel.
One cannot be a "homosexual Christian" any more than one can be a Christian
thief or a Christian drunkard. But no sin is so serious that it can't be repented of
and struggled against with Gods help. (1 Corinthians 6:9-11, Hebrews 12:4)
Anyone can repent, turn to God, and grow in virtue.
