The CROWN of CHRIST - Understanding the Times in the Light of Scripture
M A T H
in the
BIBLE
Math is a hated subject for many, perhaps because it is so precise
and unforgiving.  Unlike history and science, which are open to
changing theories and diverse opinions, Math stands firm against
the relativism of our irrational age.  In fact, Math points us to
the Mind of God, where
Don't worship idols is a certain as
2+2=4, and where infinite quantities like the true value of pi
are understood.

The basic principles of Math can be found in the Bible.

ADDITION

According to Genesis 5:3-5, Adam was 130 years old when Eve gave
birth to their son Seth.  He lived 800 more years and died at the
age of 930.
130+800=930

MULTIPLICATION

Jesus and Peter each owed the Temple tax of 2 drachmas, so Jesus
miraculously had Peter go fishing and catch a fish that had
swallowed a coin worth 4 drachmas.
2x2=4  Matthew 17:24-27

SUBTRACTION

King Solomon started building the Temple during the fourth year of
his reign.  He finished it in the eleventh year, and therefore
spent seven years on the project.
11-4=7  1 Kings 6:37-38

FRACTIONS

The notions of fractions like one-fifth and one-tenth are found in
Leviticus 27:27,32.

THE COMMUTATIVE PROPERTY OF ADDITION

When describing the strife between Christians and their
unbelieving relatives, Jesus said
From now on there will be five
in one family divided against each other, three against two and
two against three. Luke 12:52
3+2=2+3

THE ASSOCIATIVE LAW OF ADDITION

Compare 1 Chronicles 3:24 with Genesis 46:23-25. In the first
verse, the sons of Elioeni are listed and they tally seven.
1+1+1+1+1+1+1=7.  In the second verse, Jacob has one grandson by
his son Dan and four by his son Naphtali, making seven male
descendants by his concubine Bilhah.
(1+1) + (1+1+1+1) = 7
