The CROWN of CHRIST - Understanding the Times in the Light of Scripture

Chronic & Acute
Schoolitis

A New Review of the Schools,With respect to William Cowper
If Homo the Wise rose from raw evolution,
The problem of purpose is hard of solution;
For man is a wonder - no mere ape in glasses.
He cries for curriculum, completion from classes.
If men mime mere mammals, we mock them as fools
And pay their tuition to mass market schools.

                    - 2 -
Though hived like the bees, All queens they must please
With nurses and couns'lers to cure home-disease.
With co-education the common state plan,
The boy must be neutered, the girl made a man.
And if they can't castrate each Harry or Tim
A macho sports addict they'll hew out of him.

                    - 3 -
The Problem with people - if schooling or sin -
Determines the diff'rence when dogmas begin.
If children are Products of luck over time
To cage them like monkeys is not any crime.
And if they are Angels, the peak of long struggles
We'll feed inborn goodness lest we be called Muggles.

                    - 4 -
But what if the ancients were not superstitious
When noting that newborns by nature are vicious?
And if kids are covered with crime-loving germs
We ought to hunt down Satan's soul-eating worms
Which won't be undone by mere books and equations
And only come out under Christ's true persuasions.

                    - 5 -
In truth, children, learning throughout all the day
Must ever be guided at work and at play
To learn holy habits of life, law and love:
Respect for all men and the Father above.
No grammar or syntax can make up for hours
Of TV and gaming that feed foolish powers.

                    - 6 -
As Moses the Prophet passed on from the LORD,
We ought with our own seed to walk in accord
From sunup to bed time, as we work or sit;
To teach them His truth, each broad or sharp bit.
And those who are trained in the Biblical ways
The Proverbs do promise will stand all their days.

                    - 7 -
But what if you won't pay a parent's tuition
Of training at home to a godly fruition?
In any case, don't we already pay taxes?
Why not send your branch to the certified Axes
Who'll chop him to fit in the right modern mold
Despising things normal, domestic and old?

                    - 8 -
His grand education will start on the bus
Where he'll learn to mock others - and how to cuss;
To watch the fad TV shows, sad and perverse,
(For else in their language he cannot converse).
It's mock or be mocked - Darwinian training;
The wound of the weakling is deemed entertaining.

                    - 9 -
Then off to a classroom your young orphan goes
To sit through pure boredom in columns and rows.
If spit wads and airplanes don't litter the floor
His best course for coping is prob'bly to snore;
Good students don't hunger for NEA scams;
What devils digest today's teacher crams.

                    - 10 -
Perhaps some instructor, his union defying,
Will teach as if parents on him are relying;
But most of his effort he'll waste on disruptions,
As roughnecks create constant class interruptions.
And those who sit studiously in the front row
Will find that their "nerd" reputation will grow.

                    - 11 -
Then off to gymnasium, good Greco-Romans
Share lockers and showers - immodesty's omens.
Your daughter will face thin-veiled lesbian hazing;
Your son's manhood measured by sports - how amazing!
The weak and unpopular, democracy's lunch,
Will pray not to be picked the last of the bunch.

                    - 12 -
And what can be said of the bathrooms and halls?
What lessons in vulgar words wait on the walls?
And what is that smell? Perfume it is not.
At best it's tobacco; more likely it's pot;
For under the slogans, like old "
just say no".
Addiction and drunkenness happily grow.

                    - 13 -
Some new teacher may even think it a need
For all high school students to write and to read.
So when she is handed 3rd grade level work
She'll think that an
F doesn't make her a jerk.
But soon to reality she has to yield -
That semi-illiterate rules the ball field!

                    - 14 -
If he has learned nothing, remedial knowledge,
Is offered once more in our brothel called college.
For little it matters if scholars can think
So long as they learn how to party and drink.
The amoral campus for sin is wide-famed
With mass fornication as "friendship" renamed.

                    - 15 -
The Left's social program is all that they know
For all they can see is the earth and Below.
Tradition and normalcy they call perverse,
Replacing all dogma with
buzz like "diverse".
And as they rejoice in the death of each creed
Their modern opinions turn tyrants indeed.

                    - 16 -
So what, then, is truly the end of this matter?
With new books all shelves can grow ever fatter.
But one Book is true, the fruit of the Spirit;
And God's people hear it, while socialists fear it.
Do not cast your darlings to post-modern malice,
For school is to home as is prison to palace.
