The CROWN of CHRIST - Understanding the Times in the Light of Scripture
H A R D S H I P

1. O, my son, be strong in Jesus' grace
He is God's Son very dear
Truth must be transmitted face to face
Pass on the things that you hear
Recruit teachers - able preachers -
Well qualified men who can keep up the pace
Speak the truth you've heard me share with all the crowd
Pass on God's teachings aloud

2. Endure hardship as a soldier true
King Jesus calls us to strife
Active duty lays its claim on you
Forget the things of this life
Please the Master; battle faster
The ath'lete who wants to win plays by the rules
And the farmer labours, earning by his toil
The first-fruits of his own soil

3. Reflect on what I'm telling you today
The Lord full insight will give
Remember Jesus Christ the only Way
He rose from death and He lives
This is God's truth; when I give proof
They give me pain, then again, jail me in chains
But the Word of God can never be locked up
So I drink suffering's cup

4. Endure hardship for the Lord's elect
Salvation they will obtain
Light eternal Christians should reflect
For one day heaven they'll gain
You can trust this; none can bust this
We die with Christ, live with Christ, suffer and reign
For our faithful Savior never leaves His own
Himself He cannot dosown

5. Keep reminding preachers of the same
Warn them: Don't fight over words
Semantic quarrels are a useless game
They upset those who have heard
You be careful, ever prayerful
A worker who pleases God, never ashamed
We must rightly understand the sacred Word
Avoiding doctrines absurd

Endure hardship, O my darling son
Complete what you have begun
2 Timothy
2:1-13, and
should be both
a warning and
an
encouragement
to pastors.
